Pricing a product can seem tricky at first – you want to keep buyers interested, but it’s also important to make a fair profit on the sale. Additionally, some products may have sentimental value, which makes pricing even more difficult.

When it comes to luxury brands, pricing cannot be based solely on the Estonian market. Customers can order the same products from multiple international e-shops such as Farfetch, Mytheresa or Net-a-Porter. Secondary market platforms – such as Vestiaire and TheRealReal – also have their own pricing rules that affect our local market.
How to set the right selling price?
1. Research the market
See what prices similar products are selling for both in Estonia and on international platforms. If the product is significantly cheaper elsewhere, the buyer may prefer to order from there. However, if the product is rare and in demand, it is possible to ask for a higher price.
2. Consider the costs of platforms
Different platforms may charge different fees. Often, the selling price is very high on different platforms, but in reality, the seller receives a much lower amount.
3. Exclusivity and demand
The rarer and more popular the product, the higher the price can be. However, if there are many similar products on the market, it makes sense to keep the price competitive so that buyers prefer your offer.
4. Consider the condition of the product
The price of a product will definitely be higher if it is in excellent condition and the entire set that you bought it with has been preserved. But don't be discouraged if you haven't kept the original box, receipt, etc. If the product is still well preserved, you can ask for a fair price for it.
5. Be flexible
If a product hasn't sold in a while, the price can always be adjusted. Discounts can help speed up the transaction and free up money to invest in new products.
